How a strong LinkedIn list post works

A good list post opens with a clear payoff. It tells the reader what theyโ€™ll get before they spend time reading. Think of examples like the free AI tools post, the UX masterclass list, or the VS Code extensions list. The hook works because it feels useful right away.

The body then does one job, it makes the list easy to scan. Short lines help dwell time. Numbered items help people save the post. A simple note under each item makes it feel handpicked instead of copied.

Use this format when you have resources, tools, lessons, people, mistakes, prompts, or steps worth collecting. Itโ€™s also strong when your audience often asks the same question.

The common mistake is stuffing the list with too many weak items. A shorter list with clear context usually gets more replies, reposts, and first hour saves.

18 Platforms That Simulate Real-World Cyber Attacks

Most security teams don't get breached because they lack security tools.

They get breached because they don't know which defenses actually work.

The strongest security leaders I've followed all have one habit in common. They continuously test their security as if a real attacker already had a foothold.

Here are 18 Cyber Attack Simulation Tools worth knowing:

1. SafeBreach

2. AttackIQ

3. Cymulate

4. XM Cyber

5. Picus Security

โœฆ Continuously validates security controls and integrates with DevSecOps.

6. Foreseeti

โœฆ Models attacker behavior to identify exploitable weaknesses.

7. Infection Monkey (Open Source)

โœฆ Automates adversary simulations across Active Directory environments.

8. CALDERA (Open Source)

Ever since I raised my prices, I keep hearing the same thing.

"it's expensive." and every time, I think the same thing back.

Expensive compared to what?

Because they're running the wrong math.

Most of them are comparing the retainer to zero.ย

To doing nothing or to the comfort of staying invisible and hoping referrals hold.

That's not the comparison.

The real comparison would be the deal a competitor just closed.ย

The one that started on LinkedIn or the one you'd have won if the buyer had ever heard of you.

That deal went to the founder who the buyer could find.

Let me tell you..one deal that starts here pays for a year of this.

Sometimes a year of this in a single month.

So when someone says it's expensive, they're ONLY pricing the retainer.

If only they priced the deals already walking past them every week, landing in someone else's inbox, because online they don't exist.

Invisibility has a price too.

One that charges you later and mostly at the worst times.

P.S. Who else loves hearing "it's expensive" or just me?

Why it works: uses contrast between price perception and realized value, provoking reflection.

Egypt sells its cotton at $2,000 a ton then buys it back at $21,000, as clothes.

ย

That is a 10x markup. And Egypt is on the losing side of it.

Walk into any luxury store in New York, London, or Milan. "Egyptian Cotton" is on the label. It is on the sheets at five-star hotels. It is on towels that sell for ten times the price of regular cotton. Consumers in more than 90 countries pay a premium the moment they see those two words.

ย

"Egyptian Cotton" might be the most valuable brand Egypt has ever created. And Egypt earns almost none of what it is worth.

ย

Sferra, Frette, Parachute. American and Italian brands wrap themselves in Egyptian Cotton and sell sheet sets for $400 to $2,000. The fiber is genuinely Egyptian. The margin is genuinely not.

ย

Meanwhile, walk through any Cairo mall. LC Waikiki. DeFacto. Eighty stores. The clothing Egyptians actually wear every day is not made from Egyptian cotton. It is Turkish-managed, sourced from cotton grown elsewhere, processed elsewhere, branded elsewhere.

ย

Even inside Egypt, 93% of the cotton processed in Egyptian factories is imported. The country that grows the world's finest cotton does not use it in its own mills.

Every early-stage founder should read Paul Graham's essays.

He built Y Combinator, backed 4,000+ startups (Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, etc.), and wrote down everything he learned in essays on his site. Each one is like 10 minutes but covers a specific mistake or pattern he saw founders repeat over and over again.

Here are 8 PG essays I'd recommend to start with:

There are 3 types of content you should post โ†“

*Save this for later*

This works for personal AND company brands.

1) Attention content

Job: get seen

Best for: views

Feels like: โ€œoh this is GOODโ€

This is your:

- founder stories

- lists + systems

- simple, practical education anyone can understand

Attention content is how strangers find you.

But strangers donโ€™t buy. Yet.

2) Affinity content

Job: get remembered

Best for: followers

Feels like: โ€œshe gets itโ€

This is your:

- deeper stories (wins + losses)

- behind-the-scenes

- super-niche education for your ideal audience/customer

Affinity content is what turns โ€œrandom viewerโ€ into โ€œI like her.โ€

But, that is still not enough to sell.

Because liking you isnโ€™t the same as trusting you.

3) Action content

Job: get paid

Best for: leads

Feels like: โ€œI want that resultโ€

This is your:

- before/after

- transformations

- case studies

- clear offers

And if you donโ€™t have results to share yet, borrow proof.

Break down known people, celebrities + brands and say:

โ€œHereโ€™s exactly what Iโ€™d do and why.โ€

Because action content is what turns attention = leads.

Most people post Attention.

A few have the courage to post Affinity.

  2. Pick one list type, like tools, resources, levels, lessons, companies, people, or mistakes.
  3. Write each item on its own line, with a short reason someone should care.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 5 3 2 rule on LinkedIn?

The 5 3 2 rule is a simple mix for sharing content. For every 10 posts, share 5 useful posts from others, 3 posts from you, and 2 more personal posts. Itโ€™s a planning guide, not a LinkedIn rule. For list posts, it helps you avoid only posting your own offers.

How to make a list in a LinkedIn post?

Open with the main benefit, then list each item on a new line. Use numbers, bullets, or short labels so the post is easy to scan. Add one quick note under each item if needed. End with a simple question to invite comments, like โ€œWhat would you add?โ€

What is the 4 1 1 rule on LinkedIn?

The 4 1 1 rule is another content mix. Share 4 helpful posts, 1 softer personal or community post, and 1 direct promo post. Itโ€™s useful if you donโ€™t want every list post to feel like a sales pitch. A strong LinkedIn list post post template should still give value first.

What is the best structure for a LinkedIn post?

A strong structure is hook, context, body, takeaway, and comment prompt. For a list post, the hook names the promise, the body gives the list, and the ending tells readers what to do next. Keep lines short. If you have links, add them in the first comment.

Can I download these LinkedIn list post templates?

You can copy the LinkedIn post template text from the page and adapt it in your own doc. If you searched for Linkedin list post post template word, free download, pdf, powerpoint, figma, or a LinkedIn post template generator, this library is built to be faster than starting from a blank page.

How we build this data

Our library collects LinkedIn posts that actually earned high engagement, deduplicates them, and re-checks their reaction counts on a rolling schedule. Every number on this page comes from that dataset, none of it is estimated.
